HISTORY

With little more than a bank for connections, Mr. Takeshi Ohno and Mr. Akira Ito came to California from Japan in the fall of 1978 and incorporated T. Hasegawa U.S.A. Inc. (THUSA) in a small warehouse and blending facility in Lawndale, near Los Angeles. This represented the first new location beyond Japan for T. Hasegawa Co., Ltd.

The efforts of these early pioneers paid off.  Rapid growth continued to the point where the original blending facilities gave way to a new factory in Cerritos, CA in 1989. Sales growth and expansion of T. Hasegawa USA has continued uninterrupted ever since.

HISTORICAL MILESTONES

December 1978 - Mr. Takeshi Ohno and Mr. Akira Ito incorporate T. Hasegawa U.S.A. Inc. (THUSA) and open U.S. headquarters and production facilities in Lawndale (Los Angeles), California


April 1982 - THUSA opens first satellite Sales office in Stamford, CT to better serve customers in the eastern U.S.


June 1989 - Production facilities moved and greatly expanded to a 56,000 square foot factory in Cerritos (Los Angeles), California complete with extraction and reaction (thermally-processed) flavor capabilities.


August 1996 - HQ offices expanded into a leased 35,000 square foot building adjacent to Cerritos production facility.


June 1999 – Chicago Sales office established to better serve customers in the Midwest and Central U.S.


January 2001 - HQ building purchased and re-modeled to include updated flavor and applications laboratories.


May 2003 - Princeton R&D facility established in New Jersey and Eastern U.S. Sales offices relocated from Stamford, CT.


April 2007 - Production facility expansion begins as a result of increased demand for our powdered flavors utilizing spray drying, vacuum drying, and encapsulation technologies.


September 2012 - First BRC Certification (GFSI) achieved.


December 2012 - Atlanta Sales office opened.


March 2013 - Princeton Creative Center rededicated to beverage flavor creation & applications.


August 2013 - Mexico City Sales office formally established.


June 2014 - Newly renovated and expanded THUSA HQ & R&D Center in Cerritos completed and officially dedicated by T. Hasegawa Co., Ltd. Chairman & CEO, Mr. Tokujiro Hasegawa and Mr. Mark Bair, President & CEO, Americas – T. Hasegawa USA.


March 2016 - Beverage labs in Princeton are reunified with Cerritos R&D Center for improved collaboration and efficiency. Princeton returns to original role as Eastern U.S. Sales office.
